    Welles Crowther is credited with saving more than a dozen lives on September 11, 2001. He became known as the ‘man in the red bandana’ after survivors described him covering his face with a red bandana while trying to help people evacuate. President Trump posthumously presented his mother with the Presidential Medal of Freedom ahead of the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
