    Teenage girl heard voices before allegedly killing mom with a hammer

    MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (TCN) -- A 17-year-old girl has been charged with second-degree murder after police allege she beat her mother to death with a hammer. Prosecutors plan to charge her as an adult.KSTP reports that officers conducting a welfare check at a residence on June 26 found the body of 43-year-old Georgina Lee Monk. She had suffered blunt force trauma, and an autopsy determined that her death was a homicide caused by multiple injuries due to assault. KARE reports Monk was a wheelchair user.Monk’s 17-year-old daughter, whose name has not been released, was identified as the suspect in Monk’s death, and she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors plan to charge her as an adult, per KTSP.According to charging documents obtained by KTSP, the girl allegedly admitted she struck her mother with a hammer.
