NASHVILLE, Tenn. (TCN) -- A 38-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault, harassment, and theft of property after police allege he attacked his ex-girlfriend with a hammer an hour after they assisted her in issuing an order of protection against him.

According to a press release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, officers responded to the victim’s home early on Oct. 18 after she reported that her boyfriend, Ross Peterson, had threatened her via text message and arrived at her home after an argument. The victim, identified by other outlets including WZTV as Bailey Perger, went with the officers, who helped her obtain an order of protection and a harassment warrant before driving her back home.
