Florida fugitive allegedly evaded deputies by hiding in air conditioner

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) -- A 33-year-old man who was allegedly hiding inside an air conditioner to evade deputies was arrested on an active felony warrant. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of James Myers on June 8. Deputies with their Fugitive Unit arrived at his house on June 5 with a felony arrest warrant for failure to appear in court. He had been charged with grand theft, fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, super-speeding, and resisting in connection with an incident in March where he allegedly stole a truck. He was eventually arrested by a K-9 unit. “Deputies found our fugitive wedged inside the air conditioner’s air handler, folded up behind the ductwork like a contortionist auditioning for Cirque du Soleil. To be fair, vent-crawling has a storied pop-culture legacy as a perfectly reasonable escape strategy,” the press release reads.According to the sheriff’s office, 36-year-old Joann Rosario was charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly helping Myers hide. She was reportedly found inside a closet. Myers was taken into custody without incident and is being held without bond. Rosario was released on recognizance, per the sheriff’s office.MORE: Missed court date sparks manhunt, Florida man crams into AC system to dodge arrest (video) — CBS 12Woman allegedly hides in Disneyland ride to avoid arrest — True Crime NewsFugitive Ponzi scheme suspect fled FBI agents with underwater ‘sea scooter’ in California lake: Prosecutors — True Crime News
